SYNOPSIS

This multi award winning play follows the trials and tribulations of an amateur operatic society during the rehearsal period of “The Beggars Opera”. Stumbling into an early rehearsal is a shy young widower called Guy who is quickly pounced upon with glee and given a minor role in the show. He soon rises through the ranks (and romps through the ranks of the female members) to become Macheath, the star of the show – but at what cost? This fabulous show includes many songs and choruses from John Gay’s old masterpiece.
