When We Are Married

By J.B. Priestley

18th July - 8th August 1998

DIRECTOR'S SYNOPSIS

This 1908 classic reminds us of how much public opinion has changed over the 20th century and how once rigid social rules have relaxed so much over the years.

Divorce was a long and difficult procedure with divorced women being shunned by society, so it is not surprising that one or two characters in this delightful period comedy are not altogether unhappy at the possibility of not being married after all!
