Agatha Christie's first play, originally performed in 1930. Sir Claud Amory’s revolutionary new formula for a powerful explosive has been stolen. Locking his house-guests in the library, Sir Claud switches off the lights to allow the thief to replace the formula, no questions asked. When the lights come on, he is dead, and Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings have to unravel a tangle of family feuds, old flames and suspicious foreigners to find the killer and prevent a global catastrophe.

Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie (1890–1976) was a prolific English crime writer known for 66 detective novels and 15 short-story collections, selling over two billion copies.

Her works feature iconic characters like Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, Parker Pyne and Harley Quin.

Christie's writing career began during WWI, inspired by a challenge from her sister. She went on to write over a hundred works, including novels, short stories, plays, poetry, and two autobiographies. She also wrote six romantic novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott.

Her plays enjoyed immense success, with the London run of "The Mousetrap" exceeding 25,000 performances.

Christie's legacy as a crime novelist remains unparalleled.

Glenda Pearce is an experienced public speaking specialist and coach (NZDynamicspeaking.com), theatre critic and reviewer (Broadwayworld.com), SpeechNZ examiner, adjudicator and tutor in all aspects of theatre, public speaking, and effective communication 

In addition, Ms Pearce is an experienced theatre arts director.  This will be her third production for Dolphin Theatre. She’s excited to direct Agatha Christie’s FIRST play
