with the following information:

Be aware that the booking service is run by members i.e. not a paid company, so you should not assume your

Public bookings open exactly one week before the opening of each production which is a Saturday.
Members' bookings are preferential and open in the week prior to the public bookings.
Members are notified of the exact booking dates for each production via the Theatre's newsletter
"STAGE" which is posted to all active and non-active members.
Standard ticket prices are $22.00. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or credit card - there is no
EFTPOS available. We also do not charge a booking fee!
Note that membership entitles you to a six tickets for the year (pro-rata'd if you join partway through) at a reduced price.
For more information on membership, click here or on the membership link.
If a performance is completely booked out, you can ask to be put on the waiting list. Please also bear
in mind that if you have tickets booked and for whatever reason cannot make it, please PLEASE always ring
the box office to let them know - this will enable people on the waiting list to see a show they might otherwise miss.
Gala nights are available for your office, group, club or society for fund
raising or socials. Gala nights reserve the theatre exclusively for your
party, though occasionally if the entire theatre cannot be sold to one group
it may be shared. You must have a minimum of 30 people to book a gala
evening. Enjoy the warm social atmosphere before the show with a complimentary wine
or juice and a catered supper during the interval. We have 119 seats available per performance.
Occasionally Gala nights may have unsold seats, these then become available to members and public
for the usual ticket price plus a $4 surcharge to cover the supper.
For more details ring Bryan Nicholson on (09) 585-0483 or email

To all you hearing aid users - the Dolphin Theatre is looped. Simply use the "T" switch, button,
or toggle on your aid. There is a powerful microphone hung on a lighting bar over the front seats in
the audience. It points towards the stage and picks up these sounds - the actors, - the music, - the
sound effects etc. The microphone feeds these into a strong amplifier, which converts them into an
electromagnetic signal. This is "broadcast" around coils of wire looped around the auditorium. When
your aid is switched onto "T", the telecoil pick-up only those signals on the loop.
Advantages? All background noise from the audience is cut out. Your aid only picks up those stage
sounds "broadcast" on the loop. Hearing aids are personally tuned to best compensate for your individual
hearing loss. You get the same matched performance in either position: "T" telecoil or "M" microphone.
Some aids have a combination "M/T". So this is a double bonus; the looped signals are not only better
and louder, but are also amplified to best suit your hearing loss. You can also turn UP the volume of
your hearing aid - with no risk of acoustical feedback -that loud, annoying (and sometimes embarrassing)
high-pitched whistle.
At intervals, switch back to "M" for Live Voice chatting to your friends and other patrons.
Sid Yarrow, Technical Adviser to Dolphin Theatre, is very familiar with loop systems, having installed
one in his local church. He has seen how much success and joy his wife experienced when using hers.
Sid built the amplifiers for the Dolphin, supervised the installation of the loop around the auditorium,
and test-drove the system. Many of the larger sized in-the-ear hearing aids and most behind-the-ear and
remote-controlled models have this feature. If your hearing aid does not already have a "T" switch, it
can often be easily installed or reprogrammed. Ask your Audiologist.
We have also raised the stage floor to improve visibility, built wheelchair ramps and a toilet for the
physically disabled.
